TITAN FORCE - Force Of The Titan

Long-running US power metal band, Titan Force, has somehow flown under the radar since its formation in 1982. Starting out as Titan, the band was forged by Mario Flores (guitar) and his brothers John (bass, vocals) and Stefan (drums). The Colorado Springs band gained a cult following, especially in their home state, and only really gained decent momentum after recruiting powerhouse vocalist Harry “The Titan” Conklin (Jag Panzer, Satan’s Host). Not sure if he had the nickname before he joined Titan Force, but Conklin went on to release two classic albums with the band; Titan Force (1988) and Winner/Loser (1991). But after Conklin rejoined Jag Panzer in 1995, Titan Force disappeared and hasn’t released any new material since. Force Of The Titan is a collection of 12 previously unreleased studio tracks recorded in the ’80s, consisting of the complete demo from 1985, recorded when the band was known as Titan and featuring John Flores on vocals; and eight classic tracks from the first two Titan Force albums in alternate and previously unreleased demo versions with Conklin on vocals. The production is understandably raw-yet-prevalent for that time period. Conklin was more of an accomplished vocalist than Flores was, so the ’85 demo with Flores singing is a little rougher around the edges, but it’s still not horrible. But once Conklin joined Titan Force, the band’s sound progressed immensely. There’s also some excellent guitar and bass playing from Mario and John, respectively. Even though Force Of The Titan gives the listener an inside listen to the first recordings of some of their better songs, it’s really not essential — especially if you already own the two full-length albums.
