VICIOUS RUMORS - Sadistic Symphony

Since their first effort way back in 1986, Vicious Rumors has been somewhat of an unrelenting franchise. Powerhouse metal strongly influenced by their thrash roots has been the trademark of the VR sound. Sadistic Symphony is a natural progression of these influences. Unaffected by the trends that have come and gone over the last 15 years, their latest effort recalls the glory years of Iron Maiden crossed with the intensity of Pantera's unforgiving riffery and the melodic power of Nevermore; an interesting blend to be sure. But thanks to the razor-sharp playing of bandleader and guitarist Geoff Thorpe and the vocal diversity of Morgan Thorn, Sadistic Symphony encroach into Dickinson/Dane territory. In a genre overwrought with swords, dragons and cliched lyrical approaches, Vicious Rumours stays true to the integrity shown in the past with a crushing effort.
