WORLDVIEW - The Chosen Few

Sometimes a death of a family member or a close friend can bring people together. This is true in the case of Los Angeles-based progressive Christian metalers Worldview. The band was forged in 2013 after mutual friend of guitarist George Rene Ochoa (Deliverance, Recon, Vengeance Rising) and vocalist Rey Parra (Sacred Warrior) passed away. Worldview’s brand of high-energy, melodic power metal is just what the world needs right now. And even though the band doesn’t shove it down the listener’s throats, their songs and lyrics are infused with a spiritual message.

Some strong musical elements are at play throughout the ten tracks, consisting of a mix of modern prog, power metal and heavy rock. CD-opener “Mortality” is decorated with a Middle Eastern flavor, adding a majestic dynamic to its enormous vocal harmonies. Parra’s vibrant vocals soar magnificently throughout the entire disc, even hitting some glorious highs. His rich tone compliments the melodic instrumentation of the rest of the band, which also includes drummer Johnny Gonzales and bassist Todd Libby. Every track is so well constructed that you’ll soon sink into a comfortable spot in no time. Prominent guest musicians from some of the most influential Christian metal bands make an appearance here. Oz Fox (Stryper) lays down a vibrant lead solo on “Back In Time” while Les Carlsen (Bloodgood) provides his signature vocals on the title track. The Chosen Few (produced by Ochoa and released on his M24 Music Group label) is an uplifting melodic rock album with a metallic edge.
