BraveWords President/CEO “Metal” Tim Henderson wed the love of his life Sephora Hosein on Fort Lauderdale Beach this past Saturday, October 13th in front of a select few close family and treasured friends. The ceremony was officiated by none other than legendary Megadeth bassist David Ellefson. 

“It was the most beautiful moment of my life, as I finally found my ultimate dream (evil) girl and witchy woman,” “Metal” Tim gushes. “It only took me 50 years to find the right fit! But my metal heart is filled with so much love and joy, and we are both the happiest we’ve ever been in our lives. We have virtually everything in common, including a deep love for the devil horns!”

Sephora adds: “Tim is truly all of my dreams come true - he waves the flag of heavy metal like none other and inspires me every day with his dedication, excellent work ethic, and discipline. He is the most metal mofo on the planet, and at the same time the most loving and generous person I’ve ever met. My grandfather’s name was Henderson thanks to the British education system in Trinidad and Tobago up to the late ’60s, and although I’m a Canucklehead through and through (I’m a native Torontonian), I honour that legacy and am deeply proud to carry that name as my own now, thanks to my husband :) Loving and living this fantastically metal life alongside the best partner a girl can ask for.”

And the icing was to have David lead the ceremony, which almost came down to the final hour. 

“Months in secret planning, he was able to join us for a full day and night prior to his Basstory Tour in Europe, “Metal” Tim reveals. “I can’t thank him and his partner in EMP Music Thom Hazaert enough for all they did to put it together. But it’s beyond surreal, having followed Megadeth since buying Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good as a new release in 1985. So to have a relationship with David (and Dave Mustaine as well) is hard to describe in words. But it so F’N rocks!”

“Officiating a wedding is one of the highest honors one could ever be given”, David Ellefson (a.k.a Pastor Dave), remarked post-ceremony. “Even more so when it’s a metal wedding for a dear friend like Tim Henderson and his lovely bride Sephora. In between dates on my Basstory world tour, I was honored to make the trip to warm, sunny and beautiful Fort Lauderdale, FL, which was a nice change after the cold, rainy and dreary weather of the midwest the week before. Tim and Sephora are rock ’n’ roll to the core, and rock ’n’ roll weddings is what I do best (aside from playing bass, of course!). 

Surrounding by warm weather, warm people and an amazingly warm ocean, the wedding was a picture perfect fairy tale beach wedding only 20 feet from the water itself. With cool tunes for the procession (The Honeydrippers’ ‘Sea Of Love’ and Led Zeppelin’s ‘Thank You’), the guys dressed in shorts, beach hats and island shirts, as well as the bride radiating beauty for her groom, it was an afternoon to remember for all in attendance.

The Henderson rings were created by Toronto-based designer Mamie Chow who (unbeknownst to us) commissioned famous Canadian actor Dan Akroyd’s partner in Crystal Head Vodka, John Alexander! 

“Obviously, we wanted to create something dark and representative of our love for the macabre and extreme heavy metal,“ “Metal Tim” adds.   

“We both love red and black, and have a dark aesthetic when it comes to music, fashion, decor, etc,” Sephora continues. “It seemed only fitting that we chose skulls as the central design, and incorporated black diamonds and rubies instead of more traditional colours (we’re not the most conventional pair after all). Our wedding invitations, beach decor, even our drinking cups at the reception incorporated our love for red and black, and the skull theme. Skulls are a symbol of eternity, and our rings are representative of that.  

A little background on John Alexander: Born in 1945 in Beaumont, Texas, Alexander designed the Crystal Head Vodka bottle based on his and Akroyd’s shared fascination with the legend of the thirteen Crystal Skulls.



And according to his website, he has exhibited extensively in the United States and around the world, most recently in Beijing. He has had a major retrospective at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. His work is included in the permanent collections of leading museums including the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; the Dayton Institute in Ohio, the Dallas Museum of Art; The Meadows Museum in Dallas, The McNay Museum in San Antonio, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Nevada Museum of Art, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans; the Guild Hall Museum, East Hampton; the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, as well as many other distinguished public and private collections worldwide.
