Come the weekend, ProgPower gets into full swing, 10-plus hour days. BraveWords sampled most of the musical six-pack on offer, this day, beginning with the high pitched, straight ahead metal of the raccoon /Hamburglar eye make-up wearing Swedes, Manimal. Power metal countrymen Bloodbound, making their American debut, feature, if you'll forgive the pun, the be-deviling Patrik Jonasson (not the Astral Doors singer).

Labyrinth and frontman Roberto Tiranti were happy to be on US soil, running through their classic Return To Heaven Denied album. Recruiting Evergrey vocalist Tom Englund made me watch more Redemption than I've ever done before. Then lo and behold, they trot out, not only their former singer Ray Alder (Fates Warning), but guest guitarist Chris Poland, for a cover of Megadeth's "Peace Sells"! Night concluded with supergroup Sons Of Apollo: Mike 'Bluebear, The Drummer' Portnoy, Jeff Scott Soto (vox), Billy Sheehan (bass), Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (guitar) and Derek Sherinian (keyboards). Haven't seen that much simultaneous double neck guitar and twin neck bass since Rush in the late ‘70s.

Here's some images from Day 3. A full recap will be posted soon.
