Road dogs since the late ‘70s (under the name Yesterday & Today for two albums), Y&T returned to BB Kings in NYC February 21st for what has become a regular stop in recent years. Lead guitarist/singer Dave Meniketti the lone member from the original/‘80s lineup, is joined by now long time rhythm guitarist John Nymann, Mike Vanderhule on drums, and recent addition Aaron Leigh on bass.

Y&T’s most recent album of new material, Facemelter from 2010 (which “I’m Coming Home” is from), the last to feature bassist Phil Kennemore before he passed. Always great for mixing up the setlist, rotating in deep cuts among the hits and classic, this round of dates hard rockers “Masters And Slaves” off In Rock We Trust, as well as “Squeeze” off Earthshaker (with John on vocals) from the debut, were dug out. Meniketti also threw in one from his solo album, a bluesy “Storm”. One of the most overlooked and unsung lead guitarists, Dave’s leads and solos were surely appreciated amongst the crowd, especially for “Dirty Girl”, “Forever”, ballad “I’ll Cry For You”, and “Rescue Me”. Fan request of the night was hit single “Don’t Stop Runnin”, a neat show feature Dave always asks the crowd what they want to hear.
