hot flashes news

As reported yesterday (December 8th), Toronto-based metal everyman Adrian 'The Energizer' Bromley passed away in his sleep on December 7th, 2008 at the young age of 37. Former M.E.A.T Magazine publisher Drew Masters has issued the following statement:

"With great sadness and a heavy heart, I mourn the passing of one of M.E.A.T Magazine's best ever writers/contributors, Adrian Bromley. Adrian's career began straight out of Centennial College at M.E.A.T back in the early '90s. Though he had little real-world experience at his craft, enthusiastic and energetic Adrian possessed both a wide knowledge of metal music, and a never-ending eagerness to learn and excel. It's no surprise that, soon after his joining M.E.A.T, Adrian rose quickly to become one of the head writers. Easily, Adrian was the most fun of everyone involved with the mag to have around; he could make everyone laugh at any given time. We had a somewhat 'big brother/little brother' kind of relationship during those years, which I look back upon with great fondness. Adrian was a HUGE part of M.E.A.T's success. I will remember him as being a solid person to everyone. Genuine. Honest. Straightforward. REAL. I am so going to miss him. Very sad indeed."

Adrian had just celebrated his birthday on November 30th. To say that Adrian was active in the metal scene is an understatement. Early in his journalism career he worked at M.E.A.T Magazine (along with BW&BK;'s Carl Begai and "Metal" Tim Henderson). Soon-after, Adrian, along with Gino Filicetti formed one of the world's first extreme metal webzines called Chronicles Of Chaos. Adrian went on to create Unrestrained! Magazine which gained worldwide popularity in the extreme underground realm. More recently he worked press and publicity at The End Records and moved on to form Ixmati Media, a company that represented the likes of Listenable Records, Blistering Records, Northern Storm Records, Ibex Moon Records, Shadow Kingdom Records among others. He had also started his new label called Absurdist Records.

An update from the Brave Board at BraveWords.com reads as follows:

"Adrian passed in his sleep, from complications due to pneumonia. A trust account will be set up in Adrian's name where if people want to make donations, they can. Donations will go towards the Canadian Cancer Society. A cause very close and dear to Adrian.

There will not be a funeral service nor a wake for Adrian. We have confirmed a date for the memorial; it will be on Saturday Janurary 17 at The Opera House, In Toronto. All are encouraged to attend. More details will be listed in the next couple of days, with an official announcement thread made as well.”
