BLACKGUARD frontman Paul Ablaze has issued the following statement with regards to the passing of BW&BK;'s close friend and key Toronto metal figure Adrian Bromley:

"On December 7th a friend and figurehead of the Toronto metal scene passed away.

Adrian Bromley was one of the first (if not the first ) to offer Blackguard (formerly PROFUGUS MORTIS) a recording contract with his then label Urgent Music. He was ready to give us a shot before everyone else and for that we owe him a huge debt of gratitude.

On a more personal note I had the chance to hang out with Adrian many times in Toronto, not to mention a memorable night at the New England Hardcore Metal Fest a few years ago. He was a pleasure to be with and I always looked forward to seeing him whenever we played Toronto.

Adrian was the creator of Unrestrained! Magazine, which gained worldwide popularity in the extreme underground realm. More recently he worked press and publicity at The End Records and moved on to form Ixmati Media, a company that represented the likes of Listenable Records, Blistering Records, Northern Storm Records, Ibex Moon Records, Shadow Kingdom Records among others. He had also started his new label called Absurdist Records.

Tonight I shed a tear and raised a beer for him. I’ll miss you

R.I.P.Adrian."
