DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy's website has been updated with the following tribute to his late father Howard Portnoy:
"It's with the heaviest heart and deepest sorrow that we share the news of the passing of a truly great human being, Howard Portnoy. He passed away at 3:38 am on Sunday January 4th 2009 in his home in Carmel, CA with his loving wife Trish and his loving son Mike by his side after a six-month battle with cancer.Hospice played an invaluable part in making Howard's last few months as comfortable as possible and their unbelievable commitment to helping the sick and their families go through difficult times is a godsend.
We ask that any donations in Howard's memory be made to Hospice.
