Former IRON MAIDEN guitarist Dennis Stratton and his London-based backing band have confirmed a string of South African live dates under the moniker The Maiden Years.

According to Tonight.co.za, a local musician by the name of Clyde Lawrence has been organising an annual event known as Unrehearsed for seven years now. The original gig was a jam on his verandah in Hillcrest with around 40 people in attendance.

Over the years the event has grown and, in 2008, Lawrence invited former Durbanite Mike de Jager home to perform at the event, which was held at Lords and Legends.

Since moving to London, De Jager has performed with bands and artists like Iron Maiden, JUDAS PRIEST, CHRIS REA, JOE SATRIANI, PRAYING MANTIS and Stratton’s band. He showed Stratton a DVD of Unrehearsed 2008 and Stratton immediately indicated that he would like to perform at Unrehearsed 2009.

Out of that Lawrence has developed a national tour that will see no less than eight performances for the Stratton band.
