ChartAttack.com recently spoke with BIF NAKED about recording her new album, The Promise, while she was battleing breast cancer. An excerpt is available below.

Q: When things were hard, what inspired you?

Bif: "I have a chemo book that I kept with all my medical notes that I started writing. I wanted to log, point by point, the physiological responses I had as patient XYZ to chemotherapy. And in that log, I had only one photo. It was a photo of me performing at a festival, taken from the back with the whole crowd in it. That was all that kept me motivated when I wasn't feeling well."

Q: It surprises me that your album doesn't have any songs about facing death. Did you not allow yourself to even think about that?

Bif: "I've never worried about mortality because I never thought I'd live past 30. I'm one of those girls who experienced so much misadventure so young that I marvel every year that I'm still here. I've just got to make jokes about it. It's never been something that scares me."
