Germany's Metal Hammer has issued an interview with GAMA BOMB vocalist Philly Byrne in which he reveals that he considers RONNIE JAMES DIO as the personification of metal, Rust In Peace by MEGADETH to be one of the most important metal records ever and what the future of metal might be.

The following is an excerpt:

Q: What made you listen to heavy metal in the first place?

A: "I was raised in a house with four big brothers and two big sisters, and everyone in my family was very into music - rock music was always the thing with my brothers, who I shared a bedroom with. They were into stuff like THE POGUES and THE CULT and GUNS N' ROSES, so it was like I never even thought of being anything other than a rocker. I found my brother’s double cassette of Live After Death when I was about 13 and listened to it over and over in the summer. It pretty much made me fall in love with metal. I thought IRON MAIDEN were so cool and funny, and really heavy, too. I suppose that’s where it came from."

As previously reported, Gama Bomb have announced a one-off special show supporting Canadian legends ANVIL in Dublin.

Gama Bomb vocalist Philly Byrne comments: "We're pretty stoked to be supporting Anvil in Dublin. It's not only a good chance to play to people who'd never normally come to the dank, dark places we play in, but it's also going to be cool to share the stage with real-life thrash metal comeback kids. Plus it's in Dublin, which is our natural habitat. Hopefully we can show them the best bars in town, and the best gutters to lie in afterward."
