Roadrunner released the band's tenth studio album, entitled The Incident, this week.

An update at the band's site reads:

Music industry magazine, MusicWeek, is speculating about which acts are likely to break into the Top Ten of the charts. It says ‘Other new entries to the Top 10 this coming weekend could come from Mercury’s PIXIE LOTT, DAVID GRAY with his Polydor debut, Roadrunner/Warner’s Porcupine Tree and MEGADETH, and Vertigo/Mercury’s MARK KNOPFLER.”

As of September 15th, Amazon in the UK has the album at #4 - the only non-BEATLES album to be in the top ten best sellers list!

Rather bizarrely, it’s at #4 in the greatest hits category as well. Do they know something we don’t? Meanwhile at Playdotcom, The Incident has gone from #2 in the pre-order chart and straight into #8 in their top ten best sellers!

Germany has the album at #9 in the best sellers charts and occupying the #2 and #7 spot in the Psychedelic Rock and Pop charts respectively.

In France, the album has nudged up a notch or two since the last look and hovers outside the top ten best sellers in the country at #11. The same upward motion is seen in the rock charts where it’s at #6 and it has stayed at #1 in the hard rock - metal listing.

Crossing the Atlantic now and in the USA, Amazon places the record at #15 in the best sellers list, kept out of the top ten by a whole bunch of Beatles albums, and er, SUSAN BOYLE, no less. It’s also gone up to #10 in the oldies and retro category and still holds #7 in the psychedelic rock charts.

Over the border in Canada, The Incident at #6 has MUSE, Megadeth, Susan Boyle and of course The Beatles for eclectic company in the Amazon best sellers list. The Incident also sits at #2 in both their rock and Psychedelic rock categories and #5 in the pop charts.
