hot flashes news serenity

Austrian metallers SERENITY have issued the following updates from guitarist Thomas Buchberger:

"Serenity will play two more gigs in Tyrol, right after our touring activities with THRESHOLD!

November

14 - PMK - Innsbruck, Austria (with Desert Sin)
21 - Prägraten - Osttirol, Austria (with Emergency Gate, Horizon Divine)

These will be the last shows you will see us promoting our latest album, Fallen Sanctuary.

We are in the middle of the songwriting process for the next big Serenity release and we are already working with our producer Oliver Philips of EVERON and our artworks designer Gustavo Sazes on the new material. We will take some more time right after the Threshold tour for finishing all new songs and for polishing structures, voice changes, soloing, vocal lines and of course lyrics. This will probably take time till January and we will head to the studio when we are ready. Luckily we are in a position where we are able to enter studio without a fixed time schedule a year ahead. And our pre-production will already include all orchestrations and voicings, so we won't need that much time for orchestrations and these things. This will save us at least 2 months!!!!

Status Quo on the songs: 3 songs fixed, another 4 in their final stages, ideas, parts, lines and basic structures for another 4 - 6 songs, and 2 - 3 songs were put away (not good enough in our meaning - by the way: we never did that before!)

We do everything to make this release the best Serenity album ever and there's defenitely the potential therefor. But there's still a hard way to go. The recordings itself are not the biggest problem, but the songwriting seems to be a bit harder this time round... maybe because of our increased quality understanding. Who knows...

We will take some time during the Threshold tour for fixing the lyrical concept and for another eliminating round with our recorded ideas. I see some discussions heading towards us... aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Now lets give you an impression of what to expect by our next release:

Release date: somewhen in the second half of 2010 by Napalm Records

Artwork: by Gustavo Sazes, probably a more historical, epic & royal feel

Production: Oliver Philips is our producer once again and this time is THE BOSS, co-produced by Georg Neuhauser and Buchberger Thomas, arranged by Oli & Serenity, vocal recordings by Lanvall (EDENBRIDGE), drum recordings in Dreamscape Studios munich, guitars & bass & keys recordings by Thomas Buchberger, additional recordings wherever it fits the best

Mix & mastering: we are working on that

Music video: once again with Robert Geir and the Wildruf team

Guest musicians: a whole lot of them, especially female singers (some big names!!!!)

The songs: fast and melodic stuff, mid tempo and "hit single" style songs, ballads... well - everything Serenity is known for with a more epic feel than ever before."

Another update reads:

"Yesterday S.U.E, Threshold and Serenity had a great tour start in Essen/Germany. Although it was a long journey (ap. 800km) we already had a lot of fun and are happy to hit the road again. The audience yesterday was about 300 people which is great. And the best... they really went crazy for Serenity.

We had the chance to see a part of the S.U.E performance - technically stunning! It's the first tour for our french friends an we wish them the best for this tour and a safe journey with their own mobile home. We know what this means (see Kamelot tour blog...)

Threshold had a great start too and their sound was awesome! Great to see them live again. By the way they are really friendly guys and they help us wherever they can. And their tou rbus (or should I say OUR tourbus) has really small bunks (I mean really really small). But what would be life without such adventures??

Now we are here in Aschaffenburg, Germany and are waiting for our sound check. We are listening to some of our new songs and discuss some changes here and there. This will be a stunning album when the rest of the songs can hold on to the first finished songs!! That's absolutely the music direction we always wanted to go and now, due to our grown experience, we are able to do almost everything we always wanted to do on our records. A huge step forward in my mind...."
