FuryRocks.com has issued an interview with JUDAS PRIEST frontman ROB HALFORD. The following is an excerpt:

Q: When you think of Christmas, you don’t think of Rob Halford, how did this Christmas CD Winters Songs come about?

A: "I have to agree with you! (laughing) I celebrate the holiday like everyone else. I love to listen to holiday music, being with my family, and eating great food. From a musical standpoint, it is a bit of a double take. Most people may be going, 'What’s he been smoking?' (laughing). The Metal God Goes Christmas!"

Q: I really loved what you did with 'Oh Come O Come Emanuel', it’s one of my personal favorite Christmas songs. I actually found myself listen to it as if it was the first time I heard it.

A: "Just by the nature of what you said, I like to feel that some of these tracks are doing the same thing for other metal heads. I wasn’t going to do 'Jingle Bells' or 'Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer'. It has to be fitting to my world. I've done a lot of things with my music over the years as you know. Look at what Priest has been doing, we have done everything from Painkiller to the Turbo Lover to Point of Entry to Nostradamus. So I don’t think that this CD too far left field."

Q: Was it difficult to determine what songs would make it on Winter Songs?

A: "It was pretty difficult to figure what songs were right. The arrangements were very important to me, to give them a strong rock treatment yet be reminiscent of the old metal days. I think we have a nice mix of songs, 10 distinctive tracks and nothing repeating itself to any great level. A very interesting record."
