Legendary rockers AC/DC know exactly what they want when it comes to backstage requests.

Five large glass ashtrays and three oxygen tanks with masks have been ordered by the hard-living band members for their dressing rooms at this week's concerts at Etihad Stadium.

After 40 gruelling years touring the world playing to packed stadiums and churning out a steady stream of hits that have sold more than 200 million albums, AC/DC need the oxygen tanks.

"We usually carry that just in case," lead singer Brian Johnson said.

"Some of the gigs we've been doing have been 100 degrees on the stage and there is no air in the place, so you gotta usually get back and take a couple of gulps."
