Nick St. Onge at Muen Magazine recently interviewed Black Robot vocalist Huck Johns. An excerpt is available below:

Q: Tell us a bit about your self-titled album Black Robot that is set to be released April 13th on Formosa Records.

Huck: "Thirteen songs influenced by your favorite vinyl of the 1970's! Created by five dudes who understand the meaning of true rock n' roll."

Q: Can you explain your writing process for the album Black Robot, and what equipment was used to achieve such and "old meets new" sound?

Huck: "Normally I work up material on my guitar and record demos in my home studio. But with this project it was different. We came in with an empty canvas and painted the songs as they came. We'd jam out and work up the parts, record them live and share in the process. Dave and I worked on the vocals once the songs were down and recorded. We used nothing but vintage gear including very old weird, expensive microphones, vintage Gibsons, a Hammond B-3 and Fender tweeds. We basically just 'felt' our way through the recording. It came out pretty cool If you ask me."
