Jerry Velez played with JIMI HENDRIX and the BAND OF GYPSIES; including their historical performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969.

Velez has offered his personal collection of instruments that were hand played by Jimi Hendrix in mutual jam sessions. Offered among the coveted items is a red sparkled Havana Conga. The very one Jerry learned to play on and the very one played by Jimi Hendrix. “When Jimi and I hooked up he would play this drum until his hands hurt and then say 'Okay, give me back my guitar, my fingers are numb.'”

Another great piece of memorabilia is a set of Timbales. “Jimi and I would switch off on the timbales and guitar and play all night until daybreak. Always trying to come up with a new sound, we loved to mix-up styles of music and instrumentation,” continued Velez.

A microphone is also among the collection. “This mic was used at rehearsals and writing sessions during my years with Jimi Hendrix. Jimi and I shared this microphone at the band house in Phoenicia, New York. This one spent many long hours in use and was given to me by Jimi with other memorabilia!”

Along with these items is a Warrior necklace which was a gift from Hendrix to Velez . “At this time, I am offering to pass it on to someone else in its continuing journey through the universe!” stated Velez.

Bill Serritello, owner of I Rock N Roll, states he couldn’t be more excited. “Jerry is one of the all time great percussionists. I’ve been a fan of his for many years. I feel honored to have these precious items available on my site because Jimi Hendrix was and still is the greatest! Together we’re keeping the music alive.”
