The Gauntlet recently conducted an exclusive interview with SLIPKNOT's Sid Wilson. Part of the conversation focused on "a very heavy and deep song" that will appear on Sid's forthcoming solo album. The song was written for Slipknot bassist Paul Gray (pictured), more than five years before his untimely death in May 2010 due to an accidental morphine overdose. An excerpt from the interview is available below.

The Gauntlet: So it is you singing then? I thought it was but wasn't 100% sure as I have never heard you sing.

Sid: "Yeah, I sing on it, I rap on it. There are also some guest spots too. The majority of what you hear is me. I wrote all the songs, music, produced, engineered. I had some help from my production team though. The single is produced by myself and A-Rock Impossible."

The Gauntlet: Which song is the single?

Sid: 'Nervous Central'.

The Gauntlet: That's a good track, more upbeat than some of the others. I really dug 'Flat Lace'. It is a very somber and emotionally heavy song. I had to listen to that one five or six times and it really moved me.

Sid: "I actually wrote that for Paul [Gray] about five or six years ago. Yeah...I don't want to get into it right now. The most I will say is that song was written for Paul."

The entire interview will be posted early next week on The Gauntlet. You can hear the track 'Flat Lace' on Sid's official MySpace page.

As previously reported, Sonisphere at Knebworth's website recently interviewed STONE SOUR/ Slipknot guitarist Jim Root on what's in store in the immediate future for both his bands, what to expect from Stone Sour at Sonisphere, and more.

Excerpts from the interview are below:

Sonisphere: First of all, do you want to tell us what the situation is now with Slipknot and Stone Sour in terms of priorities and plans?

Jim Root: “Basically we are doing what we normally do, just kind of flip-flopping everything. Slipknot’s the kind of band you need to step away from and kind of take a break from and let it heal so to speak. Right now we are just concentrating on releasing this record with Stone Sour doing a year and a half to two years touring and we will cross any other bridge when we get to it.”

Sonisphere: And then would it be to tour again or will you start working on writing?

Jim Root: “I’m not sure what we are going to do. We haven’t talked about anything we’re going to do. We’ve got some things to think about so right now we are just going to not think about them. We’re at the beginning of the Stone Sour cycle and not really thinking about our calendars. There’s going to be a big healing process that needs to happen before we even think about whether or not Slipknot will continue. And right now that’s the furthest thing from our mind. Right now we are just grieving or trying to find time to grieve anyway for the fact that our bro’s gone. It’s weird because some days I don’t even think it’s real, so that one’s not going to make sense for a while.”
