Canadian rocker BIF NAKED has issued a new blog. An excerpt is available below:

"As most of you know, I went to junior high in Dauphin, Manitoba (Canada’s National Ukranian Capitol) and went to high school and University in Winnipeg. I cut my teeth in my first couple bands (JUNGLE MILK, and then GORILLAGORILLA) in the jam spaces of the heinous, frozen tundra of Winnipeg. It was a glorious and nurturing scene, and the era of music was ripe with creative energies and efforts. I love my background, and respect and treasure my education.

As I return to Manitoba, I am finding my thoughts nostalgic and contemplative. Each one of us has our personal history which helped shape us. I credit my family, of course, for my development and evolution into adulthood (being a concept I still try to wrap my head around. I am sure most of us, no matter what age we currently are, still feel pretty much the same as we did when we were coming-of-age). I have never been to a 'high school reunion' though I would love to say hi to many people with whom I attended John Taylor Collegiate. I am still in contact with a couple people, but have lost touch with many.

Life goes on, people move away (like I did at 19yrs old-moving to Vancouver, where I have lived ever since). I am even still friends with a couple people from my junior high in Dauphin (Mackenzie Junior High). They are all a part of my history, and as I return to those geographical locations, I am eager to visit with them. Looking back on our lives allows us to view ourselves as we are…knowing and honoring where we came from. Om Nama Shivaya. If I stop and consider my personal path, I am conscious of my gratitude for all of my early experiences: emotionally, intellectually, and socially. Man! I am so thankful for my life and my life’s stories- my personal journey from There-to-Here. We should all be- no matter how good or how bad (and, as per my personal philosophy- there really is no 'bad' regardless of any situations, because we are HERE NOW, and that is survival of whatever obstacles or experiences we had, non?). Celebrate that! Celebrate where you are right now, not where you were.( Just my two cents).

No harbouring. No resentments. No fears. Just openness and acknowledgement and peace-of-mind. You made it to Today…regardless of how you got here. Today is what matters Today."
