QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate and former guitarist Chris DeGarmo are guests on In The Studio - The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands - this week. They are discussing the 20th Anniversary of their legendary album Empire with professional radio broadcaster and rock musician interviewer Redbeard.

"Watching the February 1992 internationally-televised Grammy Awards," says Redbeard, "there was Queensrÿche performing 'Silent Lucidity' live with a symphony orchestra conducted by the late Michael Kamen. I couldn’t help but note how far they had come – how far rock had come – to be recognized in such a prestigious, mainstream way. It certainly hadn’t started out that way for the Seattle quintet. Queensrÿche co-founders Geoff Tate and Chris DeGarmo tell the story of the blockbuster Empire on its 20th anniversary."

According to Wikipedia, Empire was released on August 21, 1990 and peaked on the US Billboard 200 at #7. The power ballad 'Silent Lucidity' was a cross-over hit, reaching #1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks and #9 on the Billboard Hot 100, which helped the album reach triple-platinum status. The songs 'Jet City Woman', 'Della Brown', and 'Another Rainy Night (Without You)' create a miniature concept album within the first half of Empire, as they are linked by audio effects that bring the listener from one audio background to another seamlessly.
