In a recent interview with BW&BK;, MY RUIN vocalist Tairrie B. Murphy discussed her working relationship with guitarist / husband Mick Murphy. Check out the previously unpublished excerpt below:

"I think Mick’s guitar playing has always brought an amazing quality to our recordings over the years. For me, I don’t really hear some huge difference in what he did this time as compared to our previous recordings. He’s always brought the rock in his own unique way and style. Mick is a ‘70s and ‘80s influenced guitar player who is inspired by the old school and bands like BLACK SABBATH and BLACK FLAG, to name two opposite ends of the spectrum. The guitarist who recorded and wrote with me in (my previous) bands (MANHOLE and TURA SATANA) was more of a new school musician whose influences I couldn’t really relate to and we didn’t click or vibe musically or personally in that band. Mick is a far more creative and artistic guitar player as well as a bass player, drummer and producer. I feel there’s no comparison between the two. I think it’s important to have a connection when you’re writing with someone and in a band together for any real amount of time. Sadly, I didn’t have a serious musical connection with my former band members from back in the day but I’ve remained friends with all of them.”
