ANA KEFR frontman Rhiis D. Lopez recently contacted BW&BK; with a brief studio update. The band is currently working on their second album, due out in early 2011.

"Recording is going well, we're doing things much differently this time around. I am a perfectionist and we're really honing in on each instrument as we go to ensure that we're achieving the closest we can to perfection. The drums are done now and they sound huge and amazing, I'm really pleased. We're experimenting with a couple things for the guitar sound. Our lead guitarist Brendan has the same gear as Mikael Akerfeldt from OPETH and their last album, Watershed, has one of the most incredible guitar tones I've ever heard - so clear and beefy. So, we're really working to make this album have a better production quality."

Lopez previously issued an over view of the new material and how it will compare to their debut album, Volume 1:

"Since the release of Volume 1, from the time it became just Kyle and I to the recruitment of the present full line-up (Brendan Moore, lead guitar, saxophone, vocals; Alphonso Jimenez, bass guitar; Shane Dawson, percussion) there have been roughly 25-30 full songs written, musically, and with the scrutinizing ears of our present line-up we have scoured the material over and over to select and create what will be an unbelievably strong second coming.

Ana Kefr just got ridiculously more kefr. The new brutal material makes the heaviest moment of Volume 1 seem tame. The new epic material makes the most epic moment of Volume 1 seem bland. The new melodic and emotional material makes the most tragic and beautiful moments of Volume 1 seem gray. We've taken the elements of our sound that make us unique and have turned up their knobs closer to their breaking points, brought in a whole new level of complexity and technicality. The dynamics of crushingly heavy and soft, guttural screams and singing are present, with the music bouncing in and out of conventional genres only to twist them in our own direction. As we did with Volume 1, the new material finds us exploring new music avenues of expression within our own sound, as well as utilizing instruments one would ordinarily not associate with brutal metal. This album needs YOU to hear it, and we can't wait to share it with you."

The band has stated that they will release further details - tracklisting, album title, general run-time, artwork and more - in the months to come, along with studio reports and interviews giving listeners early glimpses of the album in its formation.

Ana Kefr's debut album, Volume 1, released in June of 2009 on MuseSick Records, was recorded and mixed by Billie Stevens (HANDSOME DEVIL/WANK), featured guest appearances from MY RUIN's Tairrie B and Mick Murphy, and received highly positive reviews from critics.
