CraveMetal.com recently caught up with MY RUIN vocalist Tairrie B. Murphy and guitarist / husband Mick Murphy. An excerpt from the interview is available below.

Q: Describe the My Ruin live experience for those who haven’t see My Ruin live.

MM: "It’s cathartic heavy rock n roll experience with a deep connection between the band and the audience."

TBM: "We’re a very intense no frills band. I guess I would describe My Ruin as BLACK SABBATH meets BLACK FLAG with aggressive female vocals. Unlike many of the metal bands you see nowadays fronted by women, we do not have that typical [insert here] melodic sing-songy element going on live which everyone seems to have these days and often comes out sounding very over produced and pro tooled to death on record. We prefer to keep things a bit more raw and in your face with our brand of rock n' roll metal. What you hear on our albums is what you get on stage."

Q: We know a lot of bands have trouble with releasing records in the states and playing shows. Do you feel that you have a better following in UK/Europe as opposed to the US?

MM: "Our strongest following is in the UK but we do have many fans spread out across America, Europe and other parts of the world as well."

TBM: "The last time we toured the states was in 2005. We did 2 six week tours and had a killer time. We miss the US but touring is not always as easy as people think. There’s a great deal that goes into it behind the scenes which can make it difficult when you do not have a big label behind you to support you or a management company to buy your way onto a tour. Most fans of bands are unaware of the business side of things, they just want the music and I wish it was that simple. I feel blessed that we are still able to make records and do certain things our way considering the state of the music industry today. It’s very hard for most bands to keep the dream alive and keep going on any level and when you’re an underground band it’s even harder."
