Chicago-based metal band Earthen Grave won 2010 Best New Entertainer at the 30th Anniversary of the Chicago Music Awards (CMA) on Sunday, January 16th at Excalibur in Chicago, marking the first time a metal group has won in that category. Earthen Grave’s electric Flying V Violin player Rachel Barton Pine also won 2010 Best Classical Entertainer, her sixth time winning in that category. The CMA’s honor and feature the best of Chicago entertainers in Pop, Classical, R&B;, Rock, Reggae, Gospel, Jazz, Blues, Disco/House, Latin, Comedy, Country, Polka, Hip Hop and World.

Earthen Grave performed 'Blood Drunk' from their upcoming release before accepting the award. Rachel used the acceptance speech to make a case for CMA adding a new permanent Metal category to their awards. Metal listeners worldwide “clicked” Earthen Grave and Pine into the winning spots. The CMA’s winners are based on fan’s votes online and Earthen Grave thanks everyone who voted for them.

Earthen Grave has just wrapped up recording sessions for its self-titled first full length album, planned for release in 2011. The group will be performing at the Days of the Doomed festival in Kenosha, Wisconsin, June 17-18th 2011 with doom luminaries Iron Man, Las Cruces, Admiral Browning, Orodruin and many more.
