QUIET RIOT guitarist Alex Grossi recently checked in with Bravewords.com correspondent Deb Rao. The exclusive interview is available below:

Bravewords.com: The new line-up featuring singer Mark Huff on vocals, you on guitar, Frankie Banali on drums, and bassist Chuck Wright will perform at Ramona Onstage on January 28th. This tour kicks off a string of West Coast dates. How did the rebirth of Quiet Riot come to fruition?

Grossi: "Frankie contacted me last spring and said he was thinking of doing Quiet Riot again and I immediately said yes, as did Chuck. The next step was finding a singer. Frankie set-up a 'cattle call' audition out here in LA, and one of the many people who came down was Mark, who really knocked it out of the park. We then did a few rehearsals, and well, here we are!"

Bravewords.com: Was it a hard decision to bring the band back to life after the passing of frontman Kevin Dubrow?

Alex: "When Kevin first passed, I had a hard time looking at photos from tours we did, and even hearing the songs because it made me miss Kevin a lot - and I only knew him for a few years, so you can imagine how Frankie felt. As time went on though and some healing was done, it became more of reality as far as something that could be done, and the idea of performing as Quiet Riot became something that we all could see ourselves doing again, and the fact that Kevin's mom was very supportive and for the idea really solidified it."

Bravewords.com: Quiet Riot really started it all. How does it feel to be able to continue the legacy of the band in 2011? What do you hope to bring to the plate on the upcoming tour?

Alex: "It really is an honor, I am very lucky to have been a part of the band's history with Kevin Dubrow and am very grateful to be continuing it with Frankie, Chuck and Mark today."

Bravewords.com: In many interviews, Kevin Dubrow always referred to you as a young Randy Rhoads. You have accomplished so much as a young guitarist in the industry. What is the most important thing that you learned working with the the legendary Kevin Dubrow?

Alex: "When I first met Kevin he would get on my case not taking things as seriously as I could and refer to certain things as 'bar band' behavior. As time has gone on I see more and more what he was talking about and that he was really spot on about a lot of things. He was a true rock star in every sense of the word, and these days, they are few and far between."

Bravewords.com: Are there any plans to record a new album with Quiet Riot?

Alex: "I know Frankie really wants to get us in the studio at some point and we have actually been emailing some ideas back and forth already, exactly when is yet to be seen!"

Bravewords.com: What advice did you give to upcoming musicians at NAMM this year?

Alex: "I was only at NAMM for about 3 hours this year, so there was not really much in the way of advice given. NAMM is great, but every year it seems to be turning into a really loud combination of The Rainbow Bar And Grill and Guitar Center, which can get old fast, or maybe I am the one getting old."

Bravewords.com: Is there anything else that you would like to say regarding the upcoming Quiet Riot tour? Also, what is their official website?

Alex: "Any and all tour dates and news can be found at www.officialquietriot.com, as of yesterday the official dates for the Metal Health 2011 Tour have been announced. The tour will feature Quiet Riot along with WARRANT and LA GUNS (the Phil Lewis version) hitting Australia and New Zealand. US dates are rolling in as well, stay tuned!"
