Former HANOI ROCKS frontman Michael Monroe is featured in a new interview with Rocksalt.mx discussing his new album, Sensory Overdrive. An excerpt is available below.

Q: How did you come to choose this lineup for your band?

Monroe: "It started when I hooked up with Sami Yaffa in the summer 2009. Since then everything came together and fell into place eventually."

.

Q: And why did you feel it was important to tour and release a live cd before recording a brand new album?

Monroe: "I thought the fans should have something to tide them over until our first studio album would be released, plus I wanted to document our last year’s live set because it’s gonna change a lot this year with the songs from the new album."

Q: Can you talk about how each member contributes; and how much different is touring now for you as compared to 20 years ago?

Monroe: "Everyone contributes lot to this in their own way by being in the band (if that’s what you mean). Touring is pretty much the same as always."

Q: What was the songwriting process for this album?

Monrioe: "We did a few days of writing on several occasions when the band was together in the same place at the same time for gigs, rehearsals or whatever. For examplem in LA and NYC last spring, in Finland last summer etc. We also did some writing with Sami and Ginger in person and via the internet since the summer and in the fall of 2009."
