Long-running Canuck hard rockers HELIX have unveiled the new video for the song 'When The Bitter's Got The Better Of You'. The song is from the band's 2009 album, Vagabond Bones.

Says the band: "Once again Brent ("The Doctor" Doerner; guitar) has done a great job to put together the freakiest, most visually stunning Helix video to date. Over 100 hours of work went into this latest piece of film by The Doctor, and the results speak for themselves. We're asking all Helix fans to cut and paste the link and send it to all their friends. Let's get this new clip as many hits as possible!"

Helix mainman Brian Vollmer recently issued the following update:

"I’ve been focusing heavily on getting our acoustic set off the ground. We had a minor set back when our first acoustic gig fell through at the Groove Kitchen in Cambridge. Reason: the club went belly-up. This was especially frustrating, as the set was sounding so damn good. Everything happens for a reason however, so I took this to mean that we should be taking the show into a more theater orientated venue. The whole idea was to film the show and then shop it to other prospective venues in the hopes of getting more theater gigs. I decided to promote a show for myself and began looking locally for a proper venue. I settled on the Aeolian Hall here in London. It’s a beautiful old building, seats 300 patrons, and just perfect for this kind of show.

The Aeolian has other advantages as well. First off, they send out 3,000 flyers to advertise each show there. They have a projection screen and a reasonable sound system, the venue is licensed, and they have connections to ticket selling outlets such as Groove Records and The Village Idiot. The Aeolian box office also has a partnership with local ticket sellers which operate along the same lines as Ticket Masters.

The show will open with Sean Kelly (CRASH KELLY) playing a 30-40 minute set. After a short intermission, Sean will join Helix for our set, which will consist of all the songs from Smash Hits Unplugged plus a few more. We’ll talk about each song before we play them and after wards we’ll have a short Q&A; with the audience followed by a meet and greet at the merchandise booth. This is the FIRST TIME the band has ever played an acoustic set, so don’t miss it!"
