Legendary Rock Interviews caught up with WARRANT guitarist Joey Allen who talked about the band's new album, Rockaholic, among other topics. Here are a few excerpts from the chat:

Legendary Rock Interviews: You guys have gone through a number of lineup changes but are back to basically the classic lineup of Warrant plus new singer Robert Mason (ex-LYNCH MOB). The new album Rockaholic would be a fine follow up to Dog Eat Dog for anyone who missed everything that the band did following your departure at that time. Was that sort of the vibe you were going for when you were working up the material?

Allen: "Our goal was to make the best CD we could. It was a long process, without a doubt the longest this band has ever spent making a CD from the time the first song was written to the time the last mix was done…at least two years. The vibe was to be who we are and make a solid rock record!"

Legendary Rock Interviews: How much did Robert have to do with the writing and developing of the material?? Is that a major part of bringing the naysayers back into the fold? Does Robert have to prove he can not only sing good but also write as good?

Allen: "For the most part this CD was written by Robert and Jerry, it just happened that way. You are never going to please everyone. There are so few naysayers at this point that, to be honest, we don’t really give a fuck. Look at JOURNEY and FOREIGNER and their situations…not unlike ours! Like us, they have original front men that cannot get the job done, period! They moved on the best they could and they are doing stellar…good for Neil Schon and Mick Jones!"

Warrant will release their seventh studio album, Rockaholic, worldwide on May 13th in Europe, and May 17th in North America, via Frontiers Records/EMI. The album was recorded with legendary producer Keith Olsen (OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE, SCORPIONS) at the helm, and features singer Robert Mason (ex-LYNCH MOB).

Bassist Jerry Dixon commented recently: "The last few years has been like holding in a big "secret"from the world and now we get to share it. I really think we captured a perfect mix of the past and present on this record. Each song has its own vibe that's going to take people on a kick-ass Warrant rollercoaster ride. To help achieve an old school sound mixed with the flair of today, we called on the legendary Keith Olsen to do the production. There's enough '80's influence on songs like 'Tears In The City' and 'Sex Ain't Love' to keep the die-hard Warrant fans rocking while introducing them to new material".
