Matthew Rolston will present numerous examples of his work, both in still photography and the moving image, and will be joined by noted journalist Merle Ginsberg as they engage in a lively discussion of his thoughts, philosophy and practices in regard to beauty and photography. Rolston believes that true beauty really comes from an inner light. The intersection of beauty and light are his main areas of creative interest.

Nikki Sixx is a musician, photographer and author. As a member of MÖTLEY CRÜE, Sixx is a Grammy-nominated musician with over 80 million album sales to-date. He is also a New York Times bestselling author three times over with The Heroin Diaries, The Dirt (written with his Mötley Crüe bandmates) and his current book, This is Gonna Hurt: Photography And Life Through The Distorted Lens Of Nikki Sixx (HarperCollins/William Morrow). This Is Gonna Hurt explores beauty, how it's perceived and how we view ourselves. It is based on Sixx's journals and, for the first time in print, his photographs. It is these observations and accompanying photographs that will be the focus of his visit to the Annenberg Space for Photography.

Beauty Culture, open through November 27th, is a photographic exploration of how feminine beauty is defined, challenged and revered in modern society. The exhibit features works from over 100 iconic photographers such as Albert Watson, Melvin Sokolsky, Lauren Greenfield, and Tyen.

In the IRIS Nights free weekly lecture series, visitors to the Annenberg Space for Photography can hear first-hand from photographers and other professionals about their perspectives on photography's role in the definition of beauty.
