According to Star-Exponent, one year ago Friday, the Virginia State Police released a composite sketch of a man forensically linked to the disappearance and death of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington.

Authorities are still trying to ID the suspect, and ask for the public’s continued help in doing so.

Harrington, 20, of Roanoke, went missing the night of Oct. 17, 2009 after attending a METALLICA concert at John Paul Jones Arena, located on the University of Virginia campus in downtown Charlottesville.

Her remains were discovered January 26, 2010 in a field on Anchorage Farm, a rural 700-acre property in southern Albemarle County.

Police are investigating Harrington’s death as a homicide.

The composite sketch released last year in the case resulted from an unsolved 2005 abduction and sexual assault of a woman in the city of Fairfax, according to a VSP release Thursday. The Virginia Department of Forensic Science confirmed a DNA match connecting that crime and the Harrington murder.
