Radio Metal has issued an interview with new DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Mangini. An excerpt follows:

Q: It took a few months between the auditions and the moment your name was revealed to the public. It must have been frustrating not to be able to tell the news to the world!

A: "It was difficult not being able to say it to my own family. My family didn’t know until April 18th, which means I had to be silent about it from November 2010 until April 18th, 2011! It was very difficult."

Q: Are you kidding me ?! No one knew?

A: "No! No, no, no. There were so few people who knew. The only reason a handful of people knew is because they were involved in some way. And that was it. It was just a question of business or something. I only told a few people. I told my wife, but I was not able to tell my friends and my family."

Q: I just can’t believe it!

A: "I can’t believe I kept the secret. But at the same time, I wanted to make an impression and I wanted to show that I could be trusted. So I had to be quiet, to show they could trust me.

A brand new Dream Theater song, 'On The Backs Of Angels', is now available on the Roadrunner Records YouTube channel. The track comes off the band's anxiously-awaited new album, A Dramatic Turn Of Events, which will be released on September 13th via Roadrunner Records, the first with newcomer drummer Mike Mangini (ex-EXTREME, STEVE VAI, ANNIHILATOR). The CD was mixed by Andy Wallace (SLAYER, SEPULTURA).
