NIGHT RANGER guitarist Brad Gillis is featured in a new interview with Classic Rock Revisited, discussing the band's new album Somewhere In California. An excerpt is available below:

Q: The new CD is amazing. Let’s talk about the opening song 'Growing Up In California'. That seems to be autobiographical.

Brad: "It is. We all spent time growing up in California. Three of us still live there. Even our guitar player Joel Hoekstra, who is from Chicago, spent a couple of years there when he was going to GIT and studying guitar. We have all spent years in California. I was born in Hawaii, but I grew up in California and have been here all my life."

Q: Describe what it is like to have such a great album at this stage in your career.

Brad: "I feel like I’m reliving 1984 through 1988 again. We were in our heyday then and we were touring a lot. We are going to do over 100 shows this year and we have not done that since 1988."

Q: Did you realize how good this disc was as you were writing and recording it?

Brad: "I thought it was going to be good. I was pleased because this record is up-tempo and kick ass. If you go through our repertoire, our first three big albums, we really didn’t have too many up tempo songs. I came in with a vengeance, wanting to do a kick ass rock album. If you noticed, there is only one ballad on the record. We were flying high when we did this record. We all got in the room and wrote these songs together. I brought in a lot of riffs and ideas. We knew we were onto something."

Somewhere In California, was released on June 21st in North American via Frontiers Records. The offering is the culmination of the band's work to date and celebrates the 30th anniversary of Night Ranger. The record finds the band returning to their classic sound with updated production.

Frontman/bassist Jack Blades commented, "Night Ranger is back with a vengeance! We are so proud of our new album... classic NR in every sense... can't wait to see all the fans on tour this summer. Rock n' roll!"
