Finnish metallers STAM1NA will begin recording their fifth album in September. The producer of the yet-unnamed album will be Joe Barresi, who has previously worked with TOOL, BAD RELIGION, APOCALYPTICA, QUEENS OF THE STONEAGE, and WOLFMOTHER. Stam1na's new album will be released in early 2012.

According to A Sakara Records press release, the idea for the collaboration between Joe Barresi and Stam1na was born more than a year ago, when Stam1na played at Tavastia Club in Helsinki, in February 2010, right after releasing their latest album, Viimeinen Atlantis. At that time Joe was recording the album of Apocalyptica, and Eicca Toppinen (Apocalyptica cellist) brought him to see Stam1na's show and introduced him to the band.

Stam1na's latest album, Viimeinen Atlantis, entered the official Finnish Album Chart at #1 and was certified Gold in the first week. The album was recorded at Astia Studios in Lappeenranta, Finland and produced by Miitri Aaltonen, who also produced the first two Stam1na albums.

At this year's Emma Gaala, Stam1na was honored with two Emma Awards (Finnish Grammy equivalent): Viimeinen Atlantis was chosen as the "Metal Album Of The Year" and Stam1na was given the "Band Of The Year" Emma award. Also, Stam1na dominated the Finnish Metal Awards this year.

In addition, last year Stam1na released a collection of old demo recordings, Vanhaa Paskaa. The collection entered the official chart in Finland at #2.

Stay tuned for updates.
