hot flashes news van halen

At this point, VAN HALEN fans are all too aware of the rumour circulating that the band would appear at the Grammy Nominations ceremony in Los Angeles, CA on November 30th to announce a world tour. An official press release put out by the Grammy's stated that the ceremony "will feature a special, live announcement from a truly iconic group regarding their historic band reunion set to take place on the Grammy stage on February 12th, 2012."

This was accompanied by a tweet from the Grammy's official twitter saying: "Who do u predict the reuniting band will be? Does this hint make u wanna 'Jump' and 'Dance the Night Away'."

The information, such as it was, turned out to be bogus. VHND.com issued the following update during the buzz:

"Rampant rumors have Van Halen making an appearance at the Grammy Nominations Concert tonight to announce their forthcoming album and tour. It was the Grammy’s themselves who started the rumor. Yet some of our sources have been telling us that they can’t confirm the rumored appearance, and others have flat out told us that it was never anything but a rumor in the first place, started by the Grammys. Whatever the case, other than the original rumor, we haven’t heard anything that would lead us to believe that the band is involved in the show tonight. Put it this way… if the band does actually make an appearance they are much better at keeping secrets than we’ve ever imagined!

The only good news today is that we’ve heard that January is the month that the band plans to make their official announcement about their album and tour. The album and tour are still scheduled for early 2012."

The comment thread for the above post has since exploded given that Van Halen never materialized at the ceremony and no announcement was made. Following is one such comment, courtesy of atomicpunksjump1984&4ever:

"This is a bunch of f***ing bullsh*t. No, Van Halen didn’t have to perform at tonight's Grammy preview, but they had a responsibility to release a statement b4 hand letting their hardcore fans know that their rumor of them being @ the Grammys was just that. You have a pretty large fan contigency that’s loyalty has been severly tested through the years and to allow this illusion to continue is cruel. Our favorite bands are supposed to provide us with good feelings not constant disappointed. I’m afraid us Van Halen fans are in what amounts to an abusive relationship and I’m just about fed up. I feel like we all just received the middle finger from 'the mighty Van Halen' as a show of how they appreciate our loyalty."
