Greece-based Rockpages recently caught up with VIRGIN STEELE frontman/founder David DeFeis. In the excerpt below, he discusses the reasons for not releasing albums on a regular basis:

Defeis: "I have written so many songs in the last years that could have easily fit in 2-3 records."

However, Virgin Steele is not a band that releases studio records very often, and their fans constantly ask for more. DeFeis doesn’t ignore the question:

DeFeis: "I know what you mean but you are aware of the fact that I am a perfectionist and I don’t want to put out a record just for the sake of it. I want to be absolutely satisfied with it. Nothing less. If you notice the last couple of our records are kind of moody, dark... almost melancholic. This has to do with the way that I felt at the time of writing those albums. I can’t write an optimistic record if I don’t feel like that as a human being."

As previously reported, Virgin Steele have booked two US warm-up shows for the band's upcoming 30th Anniversary dates. They are as follows:

January

14 - Amityville, NY - Ollie's Point

May

12 - Joliet, IL - Ragnarokkr Festival (headliner)

SPV/Steamhammer has re-released Virgin Steele's Age Of Consent. This two-CD digipak re-release comes with bonus tracks, five of them previously unreleased, and a massive booklet with new liner notes and unseen photos. And since 1988 the first time again on vinyl.
