MIKE PORTNOY Discusses New Melody Master Steel Signature Snares; Video Available

Fresh from a marathon autograph signing session at the Tama stand,at NAMM 2012, drummer Mike Portnoy (ADRENALINE MOB, ex-DREAM THEATER) gave MusicRadar.com an exclusive look at his two new Melody Master steel signature snares. Check out the clip below:
"The Melody Masters come in two versions: one is a 5x12-inch that shares the same specs as Portnoy's previous model, and a second is an all-new 5.5x14-inch. Both feature a three-way strainer that offers additional sound capabilities, as well as a special ambigram badge that reads "Mike Portnoy" even when flipped upside down.The Tama Mike Portnoy Melody Master steel signature snare drums will be available soon, and you can expect to see Portnoy himself play them on stage with his bands Adrenaline Mob and FLYING COLORS."
Portnoy teamed up with MR. BIG bassist Billy Sheehan, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION/ex-Dream Theater keboardist Derek Shrerinian, and guitarist Tony MacAlpine on January 14th for a performance at Guitar Center's 23rd Annual Drum-Off. Footage of their performance is available below:
According to an update from Portnoy, he recently shot a DVD for The Drum Channel with Sheehan, Sherinian and MacAlpine. Details of the production will be revealed soon. Watch Portnoy's official Facebook page for updates.
