Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Music (MI) has announced legendary shock rock icon ALICE COOPER as the keynote speaker for its commencement ceremony on March 17 at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, CA.

“Alice Cooper is a rock and roll icon and we are thrilled to have him as our keynote speaker,” said Tom Engfer, Senior Director of Education at Musicians Institute. “His years of experience as a groundbreaking, innovative musician will provide our students with invaluable insight into the music industry.”

With a music career spanning over 40 years, Cooper has single-handedly masterminded the rock-horror genre and created the concept of the theatrical rock concert. He’ll bring his spectacular stagecraft and flamboyant showmanship to this year’s Bonnaroo Festival on June 9 alongside other headline artists Radiohead, Bon Iver, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more. Cooper will follow the highly anticipated appearance by joining IRON MAIDEN on their Maiden England tour as their very special guest from June 21 through July 21.

Cooper returned to the charts in 2011 with Welcome 2 My Nightmare, which debuted at #22 on the Billboard Top 200. A long-awaited sequel to the classic Welcome to My Nightmare, the album was produced by long-time collaborator Bob Ezrin and features collaborations with Desmond Child, film composer Jeremy Rubolino and pop superstar KE$HA. With a collection that now includes 24 studio albums, Cooper has placed 22 songs on the US Top 100 Charts alone. He has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 with other members of the original Alice Cooper band.

Musicians Institute has established itself as a world leader in contemporary music education, providing cutting-edge resources in its state of the art facilities located right in the heart of Hollywood, the capital of the world music industry. Its dynamic curriculum is current, comprehensive and compatible with the needs of students who not only desire to study music, but also build a career in the music industry with the knowledge they learn on-campus.
