Legendary rock guitarist RONNIE MONTROSE (MONTROSE, GAMMA) passed away on March 3rd, following a five year battle with prostate cancer. A Concert For Ronnie Montrose - A Celebration Of His Life In Music took place at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, CA this past Friday (April 27th).

Ronnie's wife Leighsa Montrose has posted the following message:

"Dearest Friends,

Where do my family and I even begin to express our deepest love and gratitude? If I knew your addresses I would do it old style an hand write thank you letters forever... Each and every one of you have contributed to making Friday's show for Ronnie a night none of us will ever, ever forget. I know it would have left him speechless and moved beyond tears as were we. All the extremely talented Artists, volunteers (Bob, Jim, Roger, Michael M. and Michael I., Linda, Sherie and Paige... we could not have done any of this without you), our dear photographer friends who have always been so giving to us, our family videographer, and HDNET along with (BAM, and our dear friends at Guitar Player Magazine who have gone above and beyond anything we could comprehend or expect), and all the crew pulled off and captured an amazing setting of Ronnie's beautiful music, flowers and decor (of course), and delectable food.

YOU the fans who I am certain will never forget Ronnie mean the world to us. By and large the kindest letters Ronnie would receive from you and now I do on his behalf is that, his music is the "soundtrack of your life". I gotta say, his style, charisma, charm and kindness is what moves all of us. Oh, and that one-of-a-kind guitar playing he so finely executed. Not to mention that his entire body of work is what blew us all away. Where he says, "album-wise I've had a really inconsistent career because I change musical directions so often. That's my nature, and I've learned to live with it. Hopefully, a lot of my fans have, as well". I know my family, each of YOU and the Universe beyond has always moved right there with him through each shift in whatever he decided to do musically. Again, please know I thank you all so much for loving him and for giving him his propers.

All love, Leighsa."

As previously reported, on stage Leighsa held up a note written by the late guitarist called "Words of musical expression from Ronnie."

An excerpt reads: "My wish is that you find all of the pleasure and joy in listening to this music that I found in creating it.
