Bass Musician magazine recently spoke with former AC/DC bassist Mark Evans about his book Dirty Deeds: My Life Inside/Outside of AC/DC, and an incident involving the late Bon Scott arriving late to the band's 1976 debut Hammersmith Odeon Appearance:

"I distinctly recall was the first time we were headlining in London, at this venue called the Hammersmith Odeon," says Evans. "That is a great venue, a great indicator that you're on your way. It's a serious gig, we were getting ready to go on and Bon wasn't there! Earlier in the day he had decided to take the subway to the gig. Bon being Bon, he had a few drinks beforehand so he was feeling a bit relaxed. Needless to say he got on the right train going the wrong way! He ended up not showing up until 15 minutes after we were supposed to be on stage. Normally in that situation you're kind of like ‘what the F!’, but as an indicator of what kind of a guy he was, he showed up and in his own cordial way said, 'I'm sorry guys lets go out there and play!' and we weren't angry. We knew he would never do anything like that on purpose and that he was such a warm soul. You couldn't get mad at him for more than a couple of minutes."

Dirty Deeds: My Life Inside/Outside of AC/DC is out now via Bazillion Points Book. For more info on the book visit its website.

Evans joined AC/DC in 1975 and remained with them through their barroom days, their first international tours, and the majority of the Bon Scott-era albums: High Voltage, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, T.N.T., Let There Be Rock, and the US-only '74 Jailbreak collection.
