LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe is currently in custody after being arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by Czech police at the Prague airport on Wednesday, June 27th. It is alleged that during a May 24th, 2010 Lamb Of God concert, Blythe pushed a 19-year-old fan, who had climbed onstage, back into the audience. The fan lapsed into a coma and died of a bleeding in the brain fourteen days later.

Blythe was granted 4 million Czech Koruna bail (approximately $200,000) last week at a hearing in a Prague Court. While it was initially reported that Blythe would be freed on Monday, July 2nd, it now seems the frontman could remain in custody for another twenty days.

Mike Bax, the founder of Canada's Lithium Magazine, a regular concert-goer, and a friend to the BW&BK; crew, recently weighed in on Blythe's controversial detainment and the events surrounding it:

Bax: "Here's how this works. If you have to be that guy - the one that flails about like a cat on a hot tin roof, with your shirt off and your grossness splashing all over everybody at the front of a metal show - it's understood. The rawk is aggressive. And fans have been doing this crap for aeons now. Have at it. It's all in good fun.

If you are SO into it, you crowd surf and go over the security rail whilst flailing about - then you collect your shit up, maybe give the band a thumbs up, and make your way to the left or right of the pit - usually at the behest of a few busy security guards trying to catch the guy behind you doing the same thing.

If you repeatedly charge at the band on stage - a band trying to PERFORM for EVERYONE else in the room… you are asking for trouble. From a purely personal standpoint, you are risking the performance's integrity just because you feel you deserve a moment on stage at everyone elses expense. This is greedy and bullshit. Even before Dimebag (PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN) got shot on stage by the biggest metal loser on the planet, that kind of action was just frowned on at concerts. Now, ten years after one of the greatest guitarists in modern metal was pointlessly gunned down on stage by a fan - I feel this whole piece of business with Randy Blythe in Prague is an utter waste of everyone's time and tax dollars.

Daniel N, the nineteen year old metal zealot that died after repeatedly trying to jump over the security rail and get himself on stage - it's truly a shame that his stupidity got him an early grave. But this isn't Mr. Blythe's fault. Keeping Randy in prison and blowing this whole incident out of proportion is totally bogus yellow journalism.

It is wrong."
