hot flashes news caliban heaven shall burn

In December, CALIBAN and HEAVEN SHALL BURN will play two very special and exclusive club shows:

December

20 - Bochum, Germany - Zeche Bochum
21 - Saalfeld, Germany - Klubhaus Saalfeld

Caliban will headline in Bochum, whereas Heaven Shall Burn will close the evening in their native Saalfeld. There will be an additional band each night. Both bands aren’t just looking back to a highly successful 2012, but also 15 years in which both bands frequently crossed each other’s paths.

Andy Dörner (vocals) from Caliban on the past, present and future: “Dear friends, we are back in Germany after spending 2.5 weeks in Russia. The tour throughout Russia was draining, but an amazing experience! How massive can a country possibly be?!? Sometimes travel comfort was pretty much non-existent and a little bit more sleep here and there would have been nice, but everything was forgotten once we hit the stage. The energy and the support of the people really pushed us to give everything! Issues with our bloodstream, Vodka, sweat, vomit, euphoria... we had it all! At the moment we are taking a quick break before leaving for another European tour with TRIVIUM, AS I LAY DYING and UPON A BURNING BODY. Between October 15th and November 19th we will lay European clubs to ashes!

However, the shows I am personally looking forward to the most are our two anniversary shows together with Heaven Shall Burn at Zeche Bochum on December 20th and at Klubhaus Saalfeld on December 21st. You can be sure that we will be opening the gates of hell on those two dates.

15 years of band history – it’s almost half of the lives of the individual musicians and maybe even your whole. We are proud that we are still going and doing what we love the most – playing music and laying clubs to ashes.

I only rarely do remember individual shows, but I can still recall the first one we ever played with HSB. As far as I remember they were still named Consense, but they were as heavy as today. It was in a small club in Leisnig that was guarded by security armed with bats, because some fascists threatened to come to the show… As “Wessis” we were a little bewildered about this, but unfortunately this used to be the case quite regularly around that area. The show was amazing and the guys cool. In the following we had the first mutual label, released two Split-EPs and played numerous shows and tours together.

Just as a little proof, that HSB have always been insane: Their first show in the Ruhr district was in a small club in Hattingen. Nobody knew who they were before, but I am sure everybody did remember them afterwards, because HSB came on stage dressed up in full 80s Power Metal gear, wearing wigs! I am sure it was a little too much for some of the people at the show – simply amazing!

A huge thank you goes out to everybody: management, booking, labels, friends and most of all our fans who have supported us over the last 15 years…

15 year anniversary – thank you all, I am a little proud and looking forward to the next 15 years! See you on the road!”

Heaven Shall Burn have locked themselves up in the studio in order to work on the follow up to Invictus that scored an impressive position #9 in the German Mediacontrol Charts upon its release. Still, they didn’t want to let their 15-year anniversary pass without a little partying in their hometown. 30 years of Caliban and Heaven Shall Burn!!!! We are really happy that Caliban will be joining our anniversary and are also looking forward to their party! Our 1st show with Caliban was in Leisnig, somewhere deep in the East and we have to admit that we kept a close eye on the guys coming from the Western part of Germany. However, they were tearing down the club in no time, so it was obvious that the guys were no sissies. 15 years later we have played countless shows, festivals and tours with each other and are sharing many fond moments. Maik even played bass for them on two tours (Japan and USA) and still enjoys thinking back.

Marcus is doing some guest vocals on Caliban's latest album, we released two split-EPs and we are positive that there will be more cool co-operations in the future! A massive thank you goes out to everybody who supported and stayed with us us over the past 15 years! Happy anniversary from Century Media Records, too!

Still, this isn’t the end of the positive news: Heaven Shall Burn will headline the 3rd edition of the Impericon Festival at the Agra in Leipzig on April 20th, 2013.

Maik Weichert (Heaven Shall Burn): “We were already really keen on playing the Impericon Festival right after last year’s edition. Hence, we are stoked that it is really happening! We will come up with a special show, because we plan on playing just a handful of festivals in 2013 and we definitely want to do something cool and fun in our home-territory. See you there!”
