MEGADETH frontman Dave Mustaine's personal ultra-rare prototype Jackson Y2KV (J6443) will be listed for auction at Megadeth's official eBay store starting Thursday evening, January 10th.

The natural, unfinished Jackson prototype with special branded Jackson logo on the headstock, was designed by Mustaine and presented to him on December 23rd 1998, and featured on several magazine covers including Guitar Magazine in 1999. This was the first guitar with the final 3+3 Y2KV head, but with dot inlays, rosewood fingerboard, alternate knobs and a blade switch. The body shape was not quite finalized either, but this was the first approved prototype, used by Dave Mustaine as reference for the final prototype.

A photo of the guitar can be seen below:

Dave Mustaine recently uploaded the following clip of himself and fellow guitarist Chris Broderick recording tracks for Megadeth album #14 at Vic's Garage Studio in San Marcos, California during late December.

The new, as yet untitled album, which is being produced by Johnny K (aka John Karkazis; MACHINE HEAD, DISTURBED) is expected in early 2013, via a label to be announced. Megadeth recently parted ways with Roadrunner Records.
