Hangar 19 recently featured separate interviews with Rex Brown and Vinnie Paul of PANTERA fame. Former Pantera and current KILL DEVIL HILL bassist Rex Brown sat down with Hangar 19 host Cutter to discuss his new book, Official Truth, 101 Proof: The Inside Story Of Pantera. The memoir, which was released March 12th, reveals the bassist’s previously untold account of Pantera’s past.

Known as the silent one in the band, Brown finally speaks out in this provocative account and exposes his shocking personal perception. “I wanted to make it honest,” he explained. “If you’re going to call a book official truth, you better goddamn know its official truth.” When asked whether the members of Pantera will ever be in the same room again, the songwriter, bass player, metal legend and author responded, “Never say never.”

In Cutter’s second interview, Vinnie Paul talked about his band HELLYEAH and explained the driving force behind their most recent album, Band Of Brothers. “It’s about our audience…We feel like we bond with each other.” Vinnie also recalled how he felt working on Hellyeah’s first album and what it was like getting back on stage that first time after the death of his brother Dimebag: “It was extremely difficult… really frightening… it was the first time I had ever done anything without my brother ... It was a huge challenge. I think we all felt a lot of pressure knowing his presence was there.”

When asked if he and Phil Anselmo would ever talk again, Vinnie responded, “I just don’t have any interest in it. I’m enjoying being in a band where everybody likes each other. I don’t have any interest living in the past. I want to move forward in my life.”

Rex Brown’s interview aired the weekend of March 30th, and Vinnie Paul’s interview aired the weekend of April 6th. Listen to both full interviews here.
