CARCASS guitarist Bill Steer has revealed that the band's new album, Surgical Steel, will be released in Japan via Trooper Entertainment:

"On behalf of Carcass, I am delighted to announce the forthcoming release of Surgical Steel on Trooper Entertainment in Japan. As many of you will be aware, this is the first Carcass album for eighteen years. We have not taken this venture lightly, and finding the right home for this recording has been crucial to us.

In all honesty, when it came to a Japanese release, from the beginning there was only one name that we gave serious thought to - Trooper. There are a couple of reasons for this. Firstly, over the last few years Trooper has established an enviable reputation as a metal label with integrity. But also on a personal note, I have been fortunate enough to consider Tetsu Miyamoto a friend for some time now. He's an impressive human being and a genuine connoisseur of heavy metal music. We are genuinely looking forward to working with him and the rest of the Trooper team."

Carcass has signed to Nuclear Blast Records for the world, excluding Japan. Surgical Steel, the band’s first studio release since their 1996 LP Swansong, was produced by Colin Richardson (NAPALM DEATH, BOLT THROWER, GOREFEST, CANNIBAL CORPSE) and mixed/mastered by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, EXODUS, TESTAMENT). A fall release is pending.

Surgical Steel features 15 new songs:

'The Master Butcher’s Apron'

'The Granulating Dark Satanic Mills'

'A Congealed Clot Of Blood'

'A Wraith In The Apparatus'

'316l Grade Surgical Steel'

'Cadaver Pouch Conveyor System'

'Captive Bolt Pistol'

'Intensive Battery Brooding'

'None Compliance To Astm F899-12 Standard'

'Mount Of Execution'

'1985/Thrasher’s Abattoir'

'Unfit For Human Consumption'

'Zochrot'

'Livestock Marketplace'

On May 24th Carcass - including Bill Steer, vocalist / bassist Jeff Walker, drummer Dan Wilding, and guitarist Ben Ash - performed live at the Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore, MD. This two-minute clip was captured straight from the stage:
