Los Angeles Times' Lauren Beale reports that three-time Grammy-winning rock guitarist STEVE VAI has listed a home and recording studio in the Hollywood Hills at $1.795 million.

The site of the 1,400-square-foot studio, called the Mothership Studio, and 3,981-square-foot home was purchased by Vai in 1987 for $330,000. By that time in his professional life he had spent two years touring with FRANK ZAPPA and had launched a solo career.

The studio includes a live room, a booth, a microphone room, a control room, its own kitchen and a lounge area. The house features a den, family and living rooms, three bedrooms and 4½ bathrooms.
