According to the Sacramento Business Journal, Sammy's Rockin' Island Bar and Grill on Vernon Street, affiliated with SAMMY HAGAR (CHICKENFOOT, ex-VAN HALEN, MONTROSE), had a sign on its door Monday announcing its closure, according to the Roseville & Granite Bay Press Tribune. According to the city, the letter directed further inquiries to a Southern California public relations representative, who didn't respond to an email Monday afternoon. The restaurant’s phone number rang with no answer Monday, and a website for the restaurant appeared to have been taken down.

The letter stated the restaurant was closed temporarily due to unforeseen events, according to the Press Tribune. Event calendars for the venue on other sites showed live music performances there through Dec. 20.

At 10,000 square feet, the restaurant building at 238 Vernon St. sat empty for years when developer Steve Pease bought it from the city of Roseville’s redevelopment agency. Pease and partner John Yip formed Innova Restaurant Concepts LLC to open the restaurant, which was similar to others bearing Hagar’s name, many of them in airports.

Pease was last seen October 28 and reported as missing by co-workers to Roseville police three days later, public information officer Dee Dee Gunther said.

In addition, the Roseville Police Department has been told Pease’s family reported him as missing to the Ft. Bragg police department in the same timeframe, she said. It’s not clear yet why the report was made there, she said, adding she’s hoping to receive more information today.

Pease’s co-workers told police they didn’t think foul play was involved in Pease’s disappearance.
