Although new to the Canadian metal scene, going into its second year this coming summer, the Wings Of Metal Festival is holding its own amongst some of the bigger North American metal festivals of the year. Three days of madness that promises an experience similar to the metal fests that take place in Europe, Wings Of Metal has invited bands from every dark and dirty corner of the genre, from Doom to Heavy and Death metal - and from seven different countries.

The 2014 edition is taking place at Montreal, Quebec's underground metal-punk venue, Katacombes. The festival this year includes the very special North-American debut of French speed metal band ADX, which will perform their cult Exécution LP in its entirety as well as more classics. Other bands coming from Europe include the exciting Swiss Black/Death metal duo of BÖLZER who will play an exclusive longer than an hour set; the NWOBHM legends HOLOCAUST, who will headline Saturday night playing an extended set comprising of their early material and the whole The Nightcomers full-length and more. This will not only be a Canadian premier for the band but a rather rare and exceptional occasion for attendees as it has been more than 33 years that HOLOCAUST haven’t performed their ground-breaking debut full-length live! And from Ireland is the primitive Black/Death metal band ZOM, which promises a crushing set.

From Tokyo is the punk/metal band BARBATOS, who had played a memorable gig in Montreal 2008 and comes back for more madness. From south of our border is our second headliner, THE SKULL, which features four Trouble ex-members. They will play two sets – one of them being an exclusive set featuring the whole Psalm 9 – marking its 30th anniversary, and the other one will consist of other Trouble classics and newly recorded songs! Coming from Pittsburg, USA is the cult doom/thrash band DREAM DEATH who is also debuting on Canadian soil; from New York; NATUR – the Heavy Metal bad boys whose new album is due for release in summer on Earache records; and from Virginia – BAT, a fairly new band made up of well-known musicians from DRI and Municipal Waste that will soon give everyone something to talk about.

The line-up is completed by Canadian acts FUNERAL CIRCLE – Vancouver’s epic doom masters; GATEKRASHÖR – speed fury from Calgary; Montreal’s young dark Death Metal band PHOBOCOSM; and Toronto’s incredible heavy rock sorcerers BLOOD CEREMONY who were forced to cancel their presence last year but who are back with a vengeance after the release of their new album!

Also, just like last year, a metal market, a BBQ, and a secret after-party show will be taking place on Sunday (tickets at the door only). We encourage you to attend the market so that you can buy or trade new and obscure releases or rare memorabilia from distros and private collectors alike, relax in the terrace during daytime, eat, and ideally end the thrilling yet intimate and in-your-face festival experience that WoM aspires to deliver.

The festival will be held on Labour Day weekend, 29th, 30th and 31st of August in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Unfortunately, the advance festival tickets are already sold out, but 15 tickets will be released at the doors every day.
