Legendary Norwegian black metallers Mayhem released their new album, Esoteric Warfare, back in May via Season Of Mist. The band's founding member and drummer Jan Axel 'Hellhammer' Blomberg recently sat down for a brief interview with Metal Wani Editor In Chief, Owais 'Vitek' Nabi, and writer/correspondent Achintya Venkatesh, and discussed a variety of topics, including the nature and stylistic leanings of the new album, the band's musical and stylistic progression and his side projects.

Listen below:

Esoteric Warfare, the full-scale assault of total dark savagery of freezing riffs and Attila's inhumane vocals, is entirely based on a concept dealing with the esoteric experimentations of the nuclear powers during the cold war. The album proves once again and beyond doubt that Mayhem are the Alpha and the Omega of black metal.
