SonyBMG has confirmed that the self-titled debut album from ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA has sold in excess of 100,000 copies in Canada, thereby earning Platinum certification.

Guitarist Gilby Clarke (ex-GUNS N’ ROSES) spoke exclusively to BW&BK; scribe Aaron Small after receiving the news. “Isn’t that amazing? It helps having a Canadian in the band!” Clarke is of course referring to vocalist Lukas Rossi, the Toronto native who, on national TV, earned himself the frontman position in this super group completed by bassist Jason Newsted (formerly of METALLICA) and drummer Tommy Lee (MÖTLEY CRÜE).

Each week on CBS, Rossi along with 14 other contestants, performed songs live with the aid of The House Band: Paul Mirkovich - keyboards, Jim McGorman - guitar, Rafael Moreira - lead guitar, Nate Morton - drums and Sasha Krivstov - bass. After the show wrapped and Lukas had been declared victorious, KISS vocalist/guitarist Paul Stanley hired The House Band to serve as his solo-touring band, in support of his Live To Win album.

Gilby comments on this turn of events. “I think it’s great, absolutely awesome. Those guys (in The House Band) are incredible musicians. They really became friends of ours while we were working on the show. I’ve got to tell you one thing I don’t like. I don’t like Paul out there saying things like, ‘the only thing good about the show was the house band.’ I heard through the grapevine that’s how he introduces the band – ‘the show wasn’t very good but the band was great.’ I kind of take that as a personal snub. I’ve known Paul for a long time. You’d think he’d be smarter than that.”
